Life Changes

I know it has been awhile since I last posted. To be honest, nothing exciting has happened. And I am perfectly fine with that.

But things aren't always normal right? On Christmas Eve, Dave and I were out doing our last minute shopping. While we were at Target he received a call from his mom. I could tell right away that it wasn't good news. His eyes began to tear up and he started to walk off. I ran after him calling his name, but he just kept talking on the phone walking away from me. I finally reach him and see that he was crying, and all he said was "mom has cancer". I froze in the middle of Target on one of their busiest days. I asked him if he wanted to leave, he said no we were in the middle of shopping he asked me to give him time and to finish the shopping. It was not that easy. I tried to find an aisle with no customers just so I could have a good cry.

Since she was diagnosed the doctors said she had a pretty good outlook. She was in pretty good health (for just being diagnosed) and would just need to take it day by day. She sounded great too! This made us feel so much better. Dave was even going to go to Minnesota for a couple weeks to help take care of her, but she later called and said she was doing well, and didn't need him to come up.

Our plans were to go see her this summer. She seemed to be doing well and the doctors were pleased with her health. We knew that it could change any day, we just didn't want it to come so soon.

Yesterday Dave's brother called and said that she has taken a turn for the worse and now doctors don't know exactly how long she has. We spoke to her tonight and see a significant change. How can she go down hill so fast? But in reality we have seen it before with mom, and grandma.

Judy is such a sweet woman, with an big heart. I am so sorry that we never got the chance to have a relationship and I think if we lived closer it could have been so much more. When Dave and I married, he kept telling me "you know you can call my mom, mom"? But I refused, I told him that I didn't feel comfortable calling someone else mom since I had lost mine. But now I regret it. Why did I have to be stubborn, my mom would understand.

After hearing this news tonight and speaking with her, we are going to try to leave to see her this week! We have a lot to overcome, but really want to try.

Judy we love you so much. We are sorry we can't be there with you now, but hope to see you soon. Thank you for being the amazing person you are, and raising a good son, who loves his mom so much.

Viva Las Vegas

This past weekend we took a little trip to Las Vegas. Ash brought her good friend Sierra. It was nice to get away and just have some fun. We arrived Friday night and checked into our room. It was nice, and I loved the bed.

This is a pretty nice place. It had a nice pool area, with hammocks and all.

On Saturday morning was nice. We slept in and didn't rush to get ready. But by 1pm the girls were ready for shopping, and we were off to the mall.

After shopping we then decided to see Las Vegas for what it is. We went to played tourist and boy was it busy. I must say though every time I go to Vegas it makes me grateful for living in St. George. I would go crazy living there. Here are some pics from our adventures.

Dave got a nice pic of me sleeping in. Even though Vegas is loud, stinky, crazy, busy it was so much fun!

Christmas 2010

Christmas was very low key for us this year. It was nice to have time off of work, and to spend it with family.

Miss Allie got a new baby just her size, but all she wanted to do was put it in her mouth.

Snow

I wanted to have one more post before the new year. So since I'm short on time, I thought I would just post some pictures from our recent snow storm. Yes, snow! It was so pretty.

I have been loving this weather!

I couldn't really think of a good title for this blog, so I thought I would just say how I'm feeling. I love this weather.

This last weekend we got to do some holiday fun. I DID NOT get any pictures on Thanksgiving. How sad is that? We will just have to have our memories. We even braved Black Friday again, and that was interesting.

Anyways back to this last weekend. Emma's school choir performed at the Tuacahn Saturday Market. She did so good and was all smiles the whole time.

That afternoon Lindsay danced at the Dickens Festival. I love the Dickens Festival, I just hate how crowded it gets. The way it's set up is crazy, and it takes a good 15 minutes to get to the back to the stage. There are lots of fun booths and stores, just a little crazy.

Queen Victoria was there, so the girls got a picture. Allie didn't seem to mind.

That evening was Jacob's last basketball camp day. I had the chance to go and take some pictures. He's really good, I was surprised how well he shoots. He might be a player like his mom and dad.

The weekend of Thanksgiving we put up our tree. Ashley put some boxes together the same day and the kids loved them. They called it Miles Box City. The kids played for it days afterwards, then mom had to throw it away.

I hope everyone is having a fun holiday season. It's my favorite time of the year!
